Ronald ''Ron'' Marvin Warbelow, 46, died Oct. 23, 1995, at his home in Tok, surrounded by family members. Memorial services were held Oct. 29 at the Tok School. His ashes were spread over Mount Warbelow, where his father's were spread 24 years ago.

Mr. Warbelow was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Nome, to Marvin and Willy Lou Warbelow. His parents were teachers with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, so his first six years were spent in the villages of Unalakleet, Selawik and Tetlin. From 1956 until 1971, he lived at Cathedral Bluffs near Tok, where his family operated a roadhouse and air service, Warbelow's Air Ventures. He was home schooled with his three siblings through high school and graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1970 with a degree in biology. A few days later, due to injury and eventual death of their father, Mr. Warbelow and his two younger brothers took over the family air service, and for many years, operated together under the name, 40-Mile Air. During that time, they moved the operation first to Tanacross, then Tok. In 1981, Mr. Warbelow established a helicopter business, Cassaron Helicopters, in Tok. From ages 17 to 45, he flew fixed-wing aircraft and choppers a total of 23,000 hours. In 1978, he married Linda Wood and had two daughters, Cassandra and Sherri. In 1992, his marriage to Sue Thurneau gave him two stepdaughters, Camrin and Alisha. Plagued with ill health for years, he finally gave up flying at the end of 1994. Although his flying covered the greater part of Alaska, most of it was concentrated on the Brooks Range, Arctic Slope, 40-Mile country, and the area between Tok and Fairbanks. During that time, he did much search and rescue work.

Mr. Warbelow is survived by his wife, Sue, daughters, Cassandra and Sherri, son, Jason Sanford, stepdaughters, Camrin and Alisha, mother, Willy Lou Warbelow Young, all of Tok; sister and brother-in-law, Cyndie and Steve Tack of Two Rivers; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Nettie Warbelow of Tok and Art and Carol Warbelow of Fairbanks; 14 nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Vern and Carol Thurneau of Fairbanks; 12 aunts and uncles; many cousins; three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law in Alaska; two stepsisters; and four stepbrothers. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Warbelow, and stepfather, Dale Young Sr.
