Minerva was a daughter of William and Candis Cousins. She married Charles Leath in Caswell County, NC on 29 Jan 1876. She gave her age as eighteen.
In 1860 Minerva does not appear among the free black Cousins families. S. Cousins and Richard Cousins are the only slave owners listed in NC in that year but the enumerator did not give names on the Slave Schedules.
Cherry Grove is 'presumed' to be the burial location since she died in Xenia and besides being a private African-American cemetery, is where her husband and children were interred. WFS
