Dorothy Frances Gideon

Dorothy Frances Gideon left Earth to enter heaven at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Dorothy was well-loved by young and old alike and will be missed by her family and friends.

She attended Christ Fellowship Assembly Church in Edinburgh.

Miss Gideon was an employee of Amos Molded Plastics for approximately 40 years in the finishing department. After retirement she cared for elderly people in their homes. In recent years, McDonald's employed her to help keep their lobby clean.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family and loved going to church. Her nieces, great-nephews and many children will remember her for the quarters and dollars she gave them.

Talking on the phone and working word puzzles were two of her favorite pastimes.

Miss Gideon was born May 14, 1927, to David Everett and Monnie Mae (Warfield) Gideon in Edinburgh. She is survived by her brother, Hubert Gideon and his wife, Joyce; two nieces, Linda (Carson) Scarbrough of Crandall, Ga., and Janet Burton of Taylorsville; a nephew, Ronald Dorsey of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Willie Burton of Taylorsville; four great-nieces, Cheryl Vernon, Susan Hunt, Martha Sams and Christa Scarbrough; and many friends. Her parents and a sister, Melba I. Burton, preceded her in death.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ Fellowship Assembly Church in Edinburgh with the Revs. Phyllis Burton and Carson Scarbrough officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
