Vena Crippen Service Held Here Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Vena Adams Crippen, 84,were held at the Jones Funeral Home Tuesday, March 26,at 2pm with Harold C. Havens conducting.
She died March 23 in Steele Memorial hospital after a short illness.
She was born Oct. 30,1883 in Malad, the eldest child of John H. and Mary Ann Lish Adams. She received her early schooling at Idaho Falls. With her parents she came to Salmon in July of 1897. She attended Salmon schools and in 1908 went with her grandmother who was a graduate maternity nurse of Rockland.
In 1922 whe was married to Orville Dave Crippen at Shelby, Mont., and the coule went to Mountain View, Canada, where they farmed for several years.
In 1926 they returned to the United States and lived at Kelso, Wash., where they purchased and operated a general grocery store. In 1937 they sold the store and returned to Salmon.
Mr. Crippen died Jan 27,1967. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Eli {Mary} Demick; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also four sister, Bessie O[Connell, Ruby Hixson, and Pearl Kerin, all of Salmon; Elda Reneau of Cataldo; one brother, James Adams of Salmon and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the LDS Church.
The funeral program was as follows; Introduction and remarks by Harold C. Havens; volcal solo, "In the Garden," Tony Nardella; opening prayer by Elden Stokes; obiturary by Harold C. Havens; speaker, President Earl Stokes, vocal solo, "Going Home," Tony Nardella; benediction by President Ray E. Infanger.
Pallbearers were Frank Kerin, Harold Embree, Don Pugh, Earl Cleverly,Bill LaMunyan and Ralph Frazee.
Burial took place beside her husband in the Salmon Cemetery with the dedicatory prayer by Harold C. Havens.
