Dr. Jack G.Hunt, 79, died April 12,2008, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan, Mo.
He was born Aug.22,1928,in Aurora,Mo., son of the late Monroe and Elsie(Bassett)Hunt.
He was united in marriage to Myra Fairless July 24,1955. She preceded him in death March 15,1984. He married Shirley J.Thomas Dec. 27,1985. She survives.
Dr. Hunt was an optometrist with offices in Doniphan and Piedmont for many years. In addition to building a successfull optometry business, he opened a bowling area in Ripley County and established the first radio station and cable company. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic church in Doniphan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dr. James(Evelyn)Hunt, Doniphan, Bruce(Kim)Hunt, Paragould, Ark.; one daughter, Jane(Jim)Stillwell, Fayetteville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held April 15 at St. Benedict's Church with Monsignor Mike Swalina and Father David Coon officiating. Burial was in Doniphan City Cemetery.Dr. Jack G. Hunt, 79, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Ripley County Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Hunt was born August 22, 1928, in Aurora, Missouri, to the late Monroe & Elsie (Bassett) Hunt. A prominent businessman, he was an optometrist and a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church in Doniphan. Dr. Hunt was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Doniphan and life member of the Missouri Optometric Association. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Dr. Hunt was married to Myra Fairless in 1955. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1984. On December 27, 1985, Dr. Hunt married Shirley J. Thomas in Doniphan who survives. Other Survivors are two sons, Dr. James M. Hunt and wife Evelyn of Doniphan, Bruce W. Hunt and wife Kim of Paragould Arkansas; one daughter, Jane M. Stilwell and husband Jim of Fayetteville, Georgia; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and two special friends, R.L. "Dink" Hilding and Peggy Caniff both of Doniphan.

Dr. Hunt was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Maxine Cunningham, and one brother, James Hunt.

Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2008, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Benedict's Church with Monsignor Mike Swalina and Father David Coon officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers masses may be given to St. Benedict's Catholic Church.
