Graveside services for Harry (Mose) McCarty, 79, of 560 Hutchinson-Ferry Rd., Bainbridge were held Friday, Nov. 20, in the Attapulgus Cemetery with Dr. Tom Murphy officiating.
Mr. McCarty died unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, Nov. 18. He was born in Mitchell county and lived all of his life in Decatur County. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps. He was employed as a storekeeper and operator of Taylor's Store at Taylor Crossing for more than 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Bates McCarty.
Survivors include two sons, Harry Alvin McCarty of Quincy, Fla. and Gary R. McCarty of Bainbridge; two grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Allen of Quincy and Mary Sappington of New Smyrna Beach, Fla; and two brothers, Joe McCarty of Columbus and Harold A. (Skeet) McCarty of Winder.
Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
