Donald graduated from Littlestown High School in the Class of 1964 and Penn State University in 1968. He taught Industrial Arts classes at Upper Adams School District and Gettysburg School District. He also was an administrator at New Oxford School District. After retiring, he worked with Jean at Bair's Flower Basket in Biglerville. Don volunteered tirelessly and taught many sports for Special Olympics impacting the lives of many young people. He also worked for the benefit of the ARC of Adams County and Habitat for Humanity. In November of 2013, Don was awarded the Central Pennsylvania Jefferson Award for his commitment to Special Olympics and his work with mentally challenged youth. In 2017, he was also honored with Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award by Gettysburg Chamber of Commerce, Adams County.
Don is survived by his loving son, Donald "Alex" Bair and wife, Amanda. He leaves behind seven siblings, Shirley Smith, Dale Bair (Kathleen), Linda Guise (Paul), David Bair (Barb), Tom Bair (Deb), Janice Null (Ed), and Jeff Bair (Sarah), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Margaret "Jean" Bair, with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage on December 16, 2022, Don was preceded in death by two daughters, Heather and Debbie and his brother, Larry Bair.
