Don loved music, planes, trains and his family. He had his pilots license and often talked of taking to the skies. He worked for Katy Railroad until they merged with the Union Pacific. At that time, he opted to start his own business that he named "Jobreka", a One-hour photo shop where he also converted 8mm tape to VHS set to music. This was high-tech in the late 80's and early 90's. But like the saying goes, "you can take the man out of the railroad, but you can't take the railroad out of the man." He went on to work for and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad. He spoke fondly of his times on the train as an Engineer. He made lifelong friends out on the rails. Don spent his life in the church and could recite a Bible verse for any situation he faced. He was a true believer in God and the scripture. No matter the trials or tribulations he faced, he never lost his faith in God.
Don is survived by his sister, Velma Kay Walley; children, Joel Don Meek (Vicky) of San Diego, California, Breane Kelsye Meek (Tammy Bevers Ojeda) of Wataugak, Katrina Michelle Sykes (Hakeem) of Denison; grandchildren, Sloan Meek, Karsyn Reed Sykes, Shannon Tucker, Alex Warnell, and Dominic Ojeda; nieces, Stacey Grantland and Sherra Fritts; and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held 1pm Friday, January 19, 2024 at Parkside Baptist Church with Robert Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
