Glen Larry Sisson, 74, died Feb. 28, 2011 at Providence Extended Care in Anchorage after a brave battle with cancer.

Per Larry's wishes there will be no service, his ashes will be scattered at a later date. The family knows someday they will all be together again.

He was born March 8, 1936 near Logansport, Ind. to John and Ruth Sisson, the ninth of 10 children.

He married his beloved wife Beverly in 1954 and worked as a carpenter in Indiana. Larry and Beverly loaded their belongings onto a trailer he built and along with their two sons and his mother drove to Alaska after hearing stories from his brother Donald Gene Sisson about the hunting and fishing. They arrived in Anchorage on August 1, 1959 and have lived here ever since. After electronics training Larry went to work for the FAA at the Air Route Traffic Control Center as an Electronics Technician retiring in 1998 after 35 years. Larry could do many things and do them well. He was a pilot. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmachining, boating and the family cabin at Lake Louise. He was honest and forthright and always told it like it was. Larry was a wonderful and dedicated husband and father. He taught his sons many things and enjoyed doing things with his family. He will be missed terribly, but always remembered fondly and with great pride by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly; two sons both of Anchorage, Steve (Barb), and Jeff; grandson, Shane; granddaughter, Terrie; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; and one brother, Gene Sisson.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters and six brothers.
