OSTERVILLE - On Thursday January 11th, 2024, The Honorable Edward F. Gaulin 91, quietly passed at home with the love of his life, Ann Marie Gallagher, by his side.

Born to Arthur and Elizabeth Gaulin of Biddeford, ME in 1932, "Teddy," as he was known to his friends and family, was a graduate of Biddeford High in 1950. In high school, Teddy excelled in academics and baseball, earning an athletic scholarship to Georgetown University as a pitcher.

During his collegiate and intervening years, Teddy's love of country insisted he join US Naval Reserves and then later to enlist in the US Navy while simultaneously earning his Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgetown and then his Juris Doctor Degree from George Washington University School of Law in 1962.

Upon returning to Biddeford, Teddy opened his own successful law practice, during which time he would be elected mayor, serve as Maine's Special Assistant Attorney General and become a Workman's Compensation Commissioner.

In 1984, Teddy accepted a Judicial Appointment as a Maine District Court Judge—a position he held until 1995.

Soon after moving to Cape Cod in 1997, Teddy accepted a second Judicial Appointment, this time as a United States Administrative Federal Judge—serving until 2014.

In his private life, Teddy loved to travel, read, golf, and cook. Fluent in five languages and a savvy world traveler, Teddy loved to immerse himself in the language, culture, and cuisine of countries such as Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal. As a gourmet cook and amateur sommelier of fine wines, dinners with Teddy were much anticipated by friends and family.

Ever thoughtful of others less fortunate, Teddy also supported numerous worthy causes and charities, including his longtime favorite, Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital. As a frequent donor and advocate of Saint Jude's, Teddy will always be remembered for extolling the Hospital's well-known virtues.

Teddy's friendship, wit, counsel, generosity, and culinary skills will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved sister Joan Lambert of Marstons Mills in 2021 whose eight children all considered Teddy to be their "Favorite Uncle."

Teddy is survived by Ann Marie Gallagher of Osterville, his daughter Cynthia Gaulin of Boston and countless friends.

Services will be scheduled at a later date. Donations to Saint Jude stjude.org/donate are encouraged. In lieu of cards or flowers.
