He was the son of John Myers, a German immigrant, and Rose Ann (Rosa) Branch. He was a blacksmith and also worked at a sawmill and grist mill. He married Iva Hammond in Cummings, Hampton County, South Carolina, 16 Dec 1907. They had 5 children.

John Henry Myers of Yemassee Dies

Funeral services for John Henry Myers, Sr., 69, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the graveside in the Varnville cemetery by the Rev. G. S. Ulmer.

Mr. Myers died Saturday night at his home in Yemassee after an extended illness.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Iva Myers; one son, J. H. Myers, Jr., Annapolis, Md.; four daughteres, Mrs. Virginia Murphy of Beaufort, Mrs. Dora Jones and Miss Leola Myers of Yemassee, and Mrs. Verna Hall [Hill] of White Hall; two brothers, Alex Myers of Charleston and Willie Myers of Islandton; one sister, Mrs. Mary Kint [Kent] of Jacksonville, Fla; and nine grandchildren.
