Sarah Ellen Ross Hill, beloved wife of Edwin Nathaniel Hill of Gray Court, died April 20, 2008 at her home following a brief period of declining health.
Sarah was born on June 15, 1923 in Greenville County to the late Paul Jones Ross and Nellie Mae Bagwell Ross. She married in 1942 and raised a loving family, with her husband of sixty-six years by her side. Sarah retired from Union Carbide (Kemet) and was a member of Warrior Creek Baptist Church in Gray Court. Over the years, Sarah had many hobbies and interests. She always enjoyed reading, trips through the mountains, doll collecting, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her most prized possessions was her extensive collection of dolls on display.
In addition to her adoring husband, other surviving members of Sarah's family include a daughter and her husband, Barbara Jean and Bobby Kimsey of Gray Court; a son and his wife, Ron and Dayna Hill of Simpsonville; six grandchildren and their spouses: Tommy Kimsey of Gray Court; Angela and Ricky Leopard of Gray Court; Patty Jean Kimsey; Christy and Glenn Staton of Simpsonville; Randy and Dawn Hill of Iva; and Tammy Helligas of Gray Court; Thirteen great-grandchildren: Krystal and Nathan Leopard; Brandon, Brittany and Johnathan Farrow; Andrew and Nicholas Staton; Dimitri, Autumn and Garrett Hill; and Alston, DJ, and Cayla Woods. Also a sister, Bonnie Mae Leopard, of Laurens.
In 1993, Sarah was predeceased by a much loved and cherished son, James Hill of Gray Court.
Sarah's family wishes to thank all of the many friends, neighbors, and caregivers who supported the family throughout this difficult time. The outpouring of love meant more than words can express.
