Charles Peter Schild Sr., age 76 of Yankton, SD, passed away peacefully at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital on January 10, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. on July 6 at the Goglin Funeral home in Yankton with an interment to follow at the Delmont Cemetery.

Charles was born on September 13, 1947, in Parkston, SD, to Mae (Parker) Schild and Ewald Schild. His mother Mae died when he was 2 years old, and his father married Colleen (Frick) Schild in 1950.

He grew up in Delmont, SD, where he attended school, elementary through 10th grade. The Schilds moved to Yankton in 1963 where Charles attended Yankton High School and graduated in 1965.

Charles worked construction most of his life. He was a great handyman who could fix anything. Charles married Donna Voigt of Avon in 1971. The two had 5 beautiful children Charles Jr, Rebbecca, Michelle, Daniel, and Crystal.

Charles enjoyed being with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved playing Euchre. He was an avid antiquer and you could always find him at the Yankton Antique Mall behind the front desk telling a story or explaining an antique or collectible. Charles loved to call bingo at the Center and was an integral part of the Feeding South Dakota program in Yankton for many years. It brought Charles great pleasure to be able to provide food for families in need in Yankton.

Charles is survived by his five children, Charles Jr. (Luz) Schild of Truth or Consequence, NM, Rebbecca Kappenman of Truth or Consequence, NM, Michelle Blackledge of Yankton, Daniel (Colleen) Schild of Renner, SD, and Crystal (Kevin) Wulff of Sioux Falls, SD. His life will also be cherished by his siblings, Diane Fauth of Eudora, KS, Jeff (Barb) Schild of Spearfish, SD, Brad (Jackie) Schild of Sioux Falls, Denise Schild of Eudora, KS, Lori (Mike) Hartshorn of Sioux Falls, Brooks (Joan) Schild of Yankton, Bruce (Tonya) Schild of Yankton, sister-in-law Kay Schild of Yankton, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mae Schild, father Ewald (Wally) Schild, stepmother Colleen Schild, sister Patricia Geuther and brother-in-law Robert Geuther, brother Rich Schild, and brother-in-law Raymond Fauth.
