She was born on May 1, 1942, to Nieves (Guzman) and Julio Rios. Ruth grew up in the Bronx and went on to attend the Eastern Bible Institute, where she met the love of her life, Otis Stanley. The couple married in 1962 and entered the ministry, pastoring in New Jersey, Boston, and Leominster, MA. Ruth was an outstanding mother and pastor's wife, raising her two children while ministering in the church through music ministry and teaching young children. Her last ministry role was serving as Director of the Ministry Wives Fellowship of the Southern New England Network of Assembly of God churches. Ruth and her husband recently moved back to New England after spending 15 years of retirement in Florida.
Ruth loved being "Grammie" to her grandsons and spending time with her family. She loved reading, cooking, her Puerto Rican heritage, and her hometown of New York City. But most of all, Ruth loved Jesus. Her commitment to Jesus as her Savior and Lord was evident in the words she spoke and in the life she lived. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and gave her confidence and strength through her last days.
Ruth will be deeply missed by her husband of 61 years, Rev. Otis D. Stanley, Sr; her children, Pastor Dan Stanley and Serena Ruth Morin and their respective spouses Christina and Daniel; her grandchildren, Samuel Stanley and Blouin Morin; her siblings, Martha Santomassimo, Julius Rios, and Debbie Ferrer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by some of her siblings, Norma Dumas, Raquel Rios, Naomi Hanford, and Linda Rios.
Ruth will be laid to rest inside the Mausoleum located within the Serenity Garden at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907, (239) 936-0555 at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 10am at Riverside Assembly of God, 15 Lowell Blvd., Methuen, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at www.dana-farber.org.
