Lois K. Aschenbach

Lois K. Aschenbach, resident of North Potomac, passed away peacefully in her home on January 4, 2024, at the age of 88. Surrounded by her husband, Conrad, and her children, she felt loved and comforted by her family until the very end.
Lois was the youngest of three children born to Elizabeth and Lawson King of Gaithersburg. She was born and raised on Irvington Farm. She loved living on the farm and all that it encompassed, but especially the relationships she built there. Lois graduated from Gaithersburg High School and went on to Penn Hall in Chambersburg, PA. Lois was a member of the Gaithersburg Washington Grove Garden Club, the daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and sat on the boards of the Treatment and Learning Center and Montgomery Hospice. She was a bright light for many and spent her life giving to her community, to those in need, and her family. She loved spending time with her friends, shopping, hosting holidays in her home, watching birds, tending to her garden, and making her famous family recipes. Most of all, she and her husband loved taking trips, making memories and being surrounded by their family. Lois was especially enthralled by her 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who called her Meemaw.
Lois was predeceased by her son, Robert V. Aschenbach. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of more than 70 years, Conrad V. Aschenbach. Together they built a life of vibrant friendships, travel abroad and to their homes on the Eastern Shore, Bethany Beach and Florida. Lois and Conrad had a pure, unyielding partnership and support for each other.
She also leaves her son, Bill Aschenbach (Joanne), daughter Marlene Kelly (Rick), son, Larry Aschenbach, and daughter Betty Anne Aschenbach (Scott Stouffer). Lois is also survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Potomac United Methodist Church, 9908 South Glen Road, Potomac, MD on Thursday January 11, at 1 PM, followed by interment at Mt. Olivet in Frederick and reception at the home of Conrad V. Aschenbach.
