Theophilus was on the way to the Alaska gold rush with a group of men from Coalgate when the ship taking them north was lost near Point Reyes, California. He left behind his wife Maud Barr and children John W and Candice.

Brother of John Creber (1866-1928) buried in Lehigh Cemetery. His nephew was named after him, also buried in Lehigh Cemetery. Son of John Roberts Creber (1830) born in Tavistock, Devon, England.
