Rose T. Varnak, of Chesterton, died Jan. 17, 2004 at the Waters of Duneland Health Care Center, Chesterton. She was 92. She was born July 8, 1911 in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Curta) Kappel, who preceded her in death. In 1929, she married William Varnak, who preceded her in death July 3, 1978.
She is survived by a son, Thomas Varnak of Monee, Ill.; daughter, Rosemarie Draves of Chesterton; 15 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, William and Richard, and 12 siblings. She was a resident for 25 years where she was a home maker. She was a member of Westchester Senior Citizen's Club and the Duneland Activities Center.
