My dad was born in Oak Park, Illinois on a beautiful May day to Clifford and Edna Grant. He graduated from Proviso Township High School in June of 1947 and joined the staff of a local bank where he worked before joining the Navy in 1950. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor from 1950 until 1954. Those were some of the best years of his life as that is where he met and married my mother, his beloved Mary. They lived a magical life until her passing in March of 2020.

After his service was complete, he and Mary went back to Chicago where their daughter Lynne was born shortly after their return, and the family moved to California in 1955. They bought a home in Concord where he worked for various financial institutions and then as an Insurance Adjuster for the California State Automobile Association. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Concord and was greatly involved with the church for many years.

He donated blood for decades as he had a blood type perfect for babies, many times getting up in the middle of the night to drive to Children's Hospital in Oakland when there was an urgent need. He sat on the board of the Food Bank of Contra Costa and has been a continuing supporter of that and other charities.

My dad retired in 1994 and he and my mom began the next chapter of their lives. They both loved to travel and did so extensively for the next 25 years, visiting almost every continent at least once. Many trips included daughter Lynne, son-in-law Dave, and the best of friends (family) Brian and Teresa Lerch.

My dad was a very loving husband and father and was completely devoted to my mom and me. Because of him and my mom, I have lived every moment of my life knowing I was loved. Our home was always open to family and friends. He was a wonderful person with a great sense of humor, a love of adventure, and a good Manhattan. He lived a beautiful life and was loved beyond measure.

He is predeceased by his beloved Mary, his mother, Edna and father, Clifford, and his brother, Don.

He is survived by his daughter Lynne, son (in-law) Dave, niece, Dottie Delaquila (husband Bobby), and dear friends, Brian and Teresa Lerch.

At his request, no services will be held at this time. Services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, where his and Mary's ashes will be interred together on what would be their 72 nd wedding anniversary.

Sleep tight, Daddy. I miss you so and I love you forever and a day.
