Kevin Greg Sury
May 23, 1967 – June 20, 2023

Greg Sury, age 56, of Lake Jackson, Texas was born to L.L. "Sonny" and Patricia Sury on May 23, 1967. He unexpectedly passed from this life on June 19, 2023 in Lake Jackson.

Greg loved his family and especially loved family gatherings that were held several times a year. He was very proud of his daughter, LeighAnn, and his three precious granddaughters.

He camped and fished with his family as often as possible both as a child and as an adult. He loved boating and tenting.

All sports were important to Greg and he was a proud fan of all college and professional teams in Texas. He especially followed the Astros and spent much of his time talking about which sport season was coming up. Growing up, he played basketball, pee wee football, and baseball. His Lake Jackson National All Star Little League Team won the State Championship in 1978, and went on to Gulfport, Florida where they fell one game short of the Little League World Series. As an adult, he continued playing on local baseball and basketball teams. Involvement in sports over the years produced many lifelong friendships for Greg. He remained in special friendships from his childhood neighborhood and school days that continued to this day.

Greg graduated from Brazoswood High School in 1985 and went on to work at Schenectady Chemical Company for a short period before moving on to Dow Chemical Company for a while. Afterward, he spent 20 years working for Diver Overhead Door where he was a true, self-professed "garage door nerd." He loved his job, took pride in the knowledge of his skill, and greatly enjoyed interacting with all of his customers and coworkers. He will be greatly missed by everyone in the industry.

Greg is preceded in death by his father, Sonny, brothers, Ryan Craig and Michael Ray, sister, Shari Diane, grandparents, Raymond and Gladys Charron, Annie and Rex Dickerson, uncle, Mark Charron, and aunt, Lavonne Kellis.

Greg is survived by his daughter, LeighAnn Sury, granddaughters, London, Finley, and August Biesman, mother, Pat Sury, brother, Bill Sury and wife, Judy, sister-in-law, Natasha Sury and her mother, Sveta, nieces, Denise Sury and husband Jason Baker, Vanessa Staton, Jillian Roberts and husband Alex, nephews, Max Sury and Anthony Sury, great-nieces, Kassandra Baker and Abigail Staton, great-nephew, Levi Staton, and cousins, Kathy Mack, Linda Harris and husband, Ted, Matthew Charron and Amy Charron.

Greg's immediate family wants to extend a special thanks to close friend, Craig Weiss, and relative, Tyler Shefcik for all they have done for him over the years.

Our family and friends will love Greg for the rest of our days. The Sury family will continue on as we always have, loving and missing all of those who have gone before us.

There will be a visitation on Monday, June 26, 2023, 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 followed by a funeral service at 1:00 at Stroud Funeral Home.
