Evette Marie Jones, 56, of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away on April 17, 2023, ending her 16-year-battle with Lupus. She returned to the Lord completely healed and ever faithful. Evette loved the Lord and was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Lewisville, Texas.

Evette was born on June 25, 1966, in Akron, Ohio, to Erbetine and Edward Badgett. She grew up across the United States, beginning her journey in Akron and later moving to Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, Kansas, Texas, and California before ending her journey back in Texas. She received her bachelor's degree in education from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, where she was President of the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Inc. Evette began her teaching career at Davis Elementary School, and taught at Rainwater Elementary School, both in Carrollton, Texas. She continued to inspire her many students before ending her teaching career at McAuliffe Elementary School in Highland Village, Texas, in 2015.

Evette married the love of her life, Chris Jones, on May 5, 1990, and they were happily married for 33 years. Evette supported her children in all their endeavors. She proudly saw her son graduate from high school, then college with his bachelor's degree, and graduate school with his master's degree. She continuously supported her daughter's education and was rewarded to see her triumphantly graduate from high school and begin college.

When thinking of Evette, her son is reminded of a song by Ben Platt called, "In Case You Don't Live Forever." Within the song, the writer says:

You put all your faith in my dreams
You gave me the world that I wanted
What did I do to deserve you?
I follow your steps with my feet

I walk on the road that you started
I need you to know that I heard you, every word
I've waited way too long to say
Everything you mean to me

In case you don't live forever, let me tell you now
I love you more than you'll ever wrap your head around
In case you don't live forever, let me tell you the truth
I'm everything that I am because of you.

This typifies who Evette was, and the legacy she has passed on to her children and all the students she taught over her career.

God's purpose for Evette's life has been accomplished. We believe that Evette, the youngest child, has been reunited with her beloved parents for eternity praising Jesus. We bless the day when we shall meet our Evette again, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, teacher, and true friend!
