Linda Rae Hilton Adams passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, in St. George Utah. Linda was born on March 7, 1940, in Delta, Utah to Mabel McEntire Hilton and Virgil T. Hilton. Linda lived most of her childhood in Clearfield. She graduated from Davis High in 1958.
Mom attended BYU and met and married Daniel J. High. They moved to Kansas where they had five children: Gregory, Joni, David, Matthew and Daniel Joseph High, an identical twin to Matthew. Danny died of prematurity shortly after birth. She and Daniel eventually divorced, and Linda moved back to Clearfield to be near her family.
Several years after moving home to Clearfield, Mom met Kenneth H. Adams and his three children, Pauline, Dianne and Brad. She and Ken were married on May 5, 1972, and she moved with her four kids to Ken's house in East Layton, Utah. She and Ken were later sealed in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple.
Mom loved to teach, and she taught at, and retired, from DATC in Kaysville. She started working there when the school was newly opened in an old building in Layton, she then moved with the school to Kaysville when they built a new campus. Mom was much loved by her students, and she loved them. Mom and Dad loved to ride their mountain bikes and they rode many, many miles exploring Utah and surrounding states, or just a casual cruise to RC Willey in Syracuse for a free hotdog and soda on Saturdays. Later in life she enjoyed watching college ball with dad.
Mom was a strong woman. She survived a brain tumor in 2004 and recently survived a stroke that she had in 2021. Dad has been her sole care provider since the stroke, and he has done a fantastic job. She obviously wasn't the same after the stroke but when we called, she would always say "Hello, My Love", we will miss that.
Mom and dad retired to St. George, where she took up quilting. And she quilted and quilted. So much quilting and she loved it. Her quilts are beautiful. She won the grand prize blue ribbon from the Dixie Quilt Guild Quilt Show for her stunning nativity quilt. She loved going to different quilt stores to browse and buy, mostly buy. She took many, many quilt classes and prior to her stroke she was learning how to do machine embroidery. She always wanted to learn.
Mom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and she had a strong testimony of the Savior. She served in many callings; her favorite was probably Relief Society president because she loved to serve others and help if she knew she was needed.
People loved our mom. When new people came to church, she would search them out and greet them. She was usually the first person to do so, and she was loved for doing that. She never forgot a name, if she knew you, she always knew you. This was a true gift of hers. She loved family history and loved reading and learning about her pioneer ancestors.
About twenty years ago Mom and Dad moved to St. George, Utah and they have made wonderful friends. We would like to thank them for their kindness and love.
