It was the evening of January 3, 2017, Katie Ferguson was sitting in her front room reading. According to Toledo Police, just after 8:30 p.m., someone fired multiple shots into the bay window of Katie's home on Atlantic Avenue.
The 40-year-old mother was hit multiple times. She was rushed to the hospital and died from her injuries. It was the first murder in Toledo in 2017.

Martin and Colleen (Feeley) Buehrer and was born in Toledo on December 19, 1976. She was a Care Manager 18 years for Parkcliffe Alzheimer's Community. Katie loved to read, listen to music, cook and walk in the park. She was fiercely in love with her daughters and cherished every moment spent with them.
She leaves behind her two daughters and an adopted son as well as her parents, Jack and Colleen. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as second cousins, friends and coworkers who all thought she was awesome. Preceded in death by her Grandmother Catherine Fitzgerald Kagy.
