Funeral service for Delbert J. Scheffler, 82, of Norfolk will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Norfolk Church of Christ. Pastor Jeff Schipper will be officiating.
Interment will be held at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., prior to the service also at the church.
Delbert passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the St. Joseph's Care and Rehabilitation Center in Norfolk.
Delbert was born on August 5, 1941 in Madison, Nebraska to Elmer and Martha (Vonderhoe) Scheffler.
He attended grade school at a rural Madison Country School, then attended Creston High School and later Madison High School.
Delbert married Joyce Leitzke on August 8, 1964 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk.
Delbert farmed from 1958 to 1965 and then moved to Norfolk in 1966. He then worked at Vulcraft for 26 years, he was a supervisor for 13 years. He also owned and operated Rockbarn Outfitters canoeing for 4 years.
Delbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and riding his John Deere hobby tractor.
He was a member of the Norfolk Church of Christ.
Delbert is survived by his spouse of 58 years Joyce Scheffler of Norfolk, children Clayton (Vicki) Scheffler of Norfolk, Cheri Wichman of Norfolk, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Doris (Earl) Hledik, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Martha, granddaughter Jessica, great-grandson Zayden, brothers Virgil, Wayne, Aaron, and sisters Brenda Scheffler, and Marie Kimball.
Casket bearers will be Allen Wichman, Aaron Wichman, Brandon Scheffler, Tim Sazama, and Clint Scheffler
