From Schaetter Funeral Home:

Jocelyn Margaret Roeder Eckhardt, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the age of 91. Jocelyn Eckhardt was born February 17, 1932 to Meta Roeder, raised with grandparents, Charles Roeder and Hilda Juenke Roeder in the Tivydale community.

Jocelyn attended Tivydale School thru 8th grade. With all the dance halls in the community,

Jocelyn was noticed by a handsome young man, and they danced many dances into the night.

That young man being Victor W. Eckhardt. With their love for each other, Victor and Jocelyn were married on November 18,1948 in the St. Mary's Rectory with a wedding reception at the Nimitz Ballroom. Who would have thought they met up with friends Milton and Joyce Meier in San Antonio who were married on the same day. Not sure if this was planned, but the two couples got into one vehicle and drove to Mexico for their honeymoon. Stories to be told, I am sure. Traveling was always on Victor and Jocelyn's agenda, Victor would say Mama, pack clothes, we are leaving in the morning to go traveling, with emphasis on stopping at casinos all over the US, and seeing the countryside.

Victor and Jocelyn were blessed with four children, Gary, Rodney, Ann Denise, and Daniel.

As they started off their life together, Jocelyn worked at the Farmer's Grain Grocery store candling eggs. After that, she worked at Market Produce Company,

Then, she worked at the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Kitchen, changing position to being a custodian at the hospital. Jocelyn was bound and determined to continue being employed, so she became a custodian at the FISD Middle School, where she worked over twenty years. She was the best custodian there, making friends with all the teachers but especially the students, as they all loved her friendly and sweet sense of humor, students all started to call her OMA.

But, you know she watched several of her grandchildren attend the middle school, and there was no slack for them, they too just walked through the halls and acknowledged their sweet Oma. After retirement from FISD, she went to work at the FINA gas station, enjoying her work there, visiting with customers, always making conversations with them.

Jocelyn is survived by two sons and spouses, Rodney and Margie Eckhardt, Fredericksburg, Texas, Daniel and Sheila Eckhardt, Gorman, Texas, Daughter In Law – Lorna Eckhardt, Mason Texas.
