Rufina was humble and possessed many unique qualities. Rufina was a devoted member of Catholic Churches in New Mexico and California throughout her life. Rufina was generous and selfless and would always budget giving to charities in her finances. Never boasting, she'd give generously to St. Jude Foundation, law enforcement, the fire department, the ASPCA, and the DAV, just to name a few. Rufina was a selfless giver and never hesitated to give to others and the community. If she had something someone wanted, she'd hand it over without hesitation and insist you take it, expecting nothing in return.
Rufina's hobbies included crocheting and collecting. Rufina was a talented crocheter and if she envisioned it, she would put her hands to work making it. Rufina would make anything from blankets to stockings, to curtains and everything in between.
Rufina collected windmills, hummingbirds, Coco-Cola sets, etc. Rufina loved receiving any of her favorite things as gifts.
Her boys and their families shared many memories with her. Bagging chile in the front yard, going on car rides to visit surrounding churches, listening to music, and storytelling in a way that would make you believe that you were there were amongst some of their favorite times.
Rufina was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband, Glisson Baca, sisters, Alvita Chávez, Viola Sánchez, Ida Montaño and Aggie Padilla, as well as her brother, Nemecio Silva.
