A memorial service to honor Ben's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday January 19, 2024, in Calvert & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Internment will be in Maroa Cemetery. Ben was born October 24, 1954, in Decatur, IL the son of William E. and Elizabeth (Bennett) Braden. He retired from Caterpillar having been a machinist. He had also worked as a conductor for Prairie Central Railroad and for Rail Switching Services. Ben was an avid sports fan especially the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.
Surviving is his daughter: Erica Renee Braden of Decatur; sister: Susan Smith (Dave) of Oak Park, IL; grandchildren: Mountain and Trinity; cousins: Scott Smith (Amanda) of Westmont, IL and Carey Smith of Riverside, IL.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Elizabeth Braden.
