Billy Frank Jung was born March 23, 1947, to Henry Daniel and Mary Irene (nee Gillaspy) Jung in
Fredericksburg, TX. At the age of 18, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Polk and
Ft. Leonard Wood before serving in the Vietnam War.
In 1969 he married Sharon Fritz. Together they had 3 children, Stephen, Victoria, and Nicholas.
He worked at the local radio station, KNAF/KFAN for 9 years before marrying Bonnie Weichbrodt in
1981. He was a founding member of the Tivydale Shooting Club and soon found employment with the
Fredericksburg Police Department, Marble Falls Police Department, Burnet Police Department, and
Blanco County Sherriff's office, before being asked to start a police station in Johnson City. He
served at Chief of Police in Johnson City until 2005.
Billy is survived by his wife, Bonnie, and two sisters, Katleen (and Humberto) Palmerin of
Fredericksburg, and Becky Scott of Cherokee, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Daniel P. Jung, and R. Bruce Jung.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Knopp Nursing Home #2 and Votive Hospice who
helped take care of Billy during his final days. The kindness and compassion shown will be
remembered forever.
There are no funeral services planned. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

choice.
