DIED: December 19, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father and grandfather Lawrence Blonquist at the age of 97.

It was his wish he could live out his life in his own home, and with the help and care of his daughter, Laurie, he was able to accomplish this goal.

Lawrence was born April 12, 1926, in Coalville, UT. He was raised on the Blonquist Ranch where he learned to ride a horse and the true meaning of a hard day's work. At the age of five he contracted Polio and his future looked grim. With his catchphrase, "you gotta go with what you've got," and a positive attitude, Lawrence had many life accomplishments.
MARRIED Colleen York
PLACE: Salt Lake City
CHILDREN (4): Craig B., Jon (Donna) Blonquist, Laurie (Art) Lovato, and Mike Blonquist; five grandchildren (including ;grandson Matthew Lovato deceased) and nine great-grandchildren

.
, and eventually settled in Bountiful.

He was a member of the FFA where he raised a champion steer. Lawrence was also very successful in breeding, raising, and racing quarter horses. He had 20 different horses reach the Winner's Circle and raced in four different states. He was very fortunate to have owned a filly named Hello Darlin Dash. She was awarded horse of the year by the UQHRA. Lawrence loved racing horses and he was very proud of this time in his life. He also made a career as an auto mechanic.

He was proud of all his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for always being willing to help, his great sense of humor, and ability to forgive and forget. Lawrence was self-taught to play the guitar, and never missed a Colorado Rockies or BYU game. He will be missed.
