Alan "Butch" Rathsack, 78, of Glen Flora, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield after a hard-fought battle of cancer.

Alan was born on Feb. 3, 1945, to Tisla and Archie Rathsack. After his father's passing, Alan took over the family farm and lived there ever since.

In 1981 he met and married Sandy Flint, joining together with her son, Randy Flint. They had 42 years of sharing their lives together and farming the land he loved. He so loved spending time with his grandchildren and all his great-grandchildren.

Alan loved riding steam engine trains and was able to take a few trips throughout the U.S. and Canada. He had a love of hunting and fishing. He loved 4-wheeling with family and friends. Alan had a great love of working with wood. He had a sawmill for a few years and enjoyed making furniture out of wood and cutting firewood.

Alan enjoyed serving his community in many ways, from serving on the town board for years and also on the county board in which he became chairman.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; son, Randy (Barb) Flint of Glen Flora; grandchildren, Kelsey Flint (Brent Olsen), Kyle Flint (Gabby Lazar) and Koryanne Flint (Kyle Streff); great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Addison, Hunter, Emersyn, Harper, Lucas, Zakary and Aspen; great-great-grandson, Greyson; sister, Donna (Dennis) Carr of Polaski and brother-in-law, John Siehr of Two Rivers.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Tisla (Vaness) Rathsack and a sister, Joanne Siehr.

A memorial service was held on Monday, Dec. 18, at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith with Deacon Craig Voldberg officiating.

He is truly loved and missed.
