If you knew him, met him, or worked with him years ago, I would love to hear your stories.

______________

He is not gone. He is just away.

______________

Ross took his first breath during the summer equinox. He drew his last breath during the winter equinox. Poetically fitting.

If you ever knew Ross Coursey you'd know the mold was broken after he was made. ... And he knew it and would tell you so! Ross was tall, dark, handsome, and very dapper when dressed in a suit. He had a commanding presence with a no nonsense voice and dark piercing eyes.

In his younger years Ross liked ranching and hunting. At age 14 he lost the little finger on his left hand in a roping accident while roping a calf; the finger was caught between the rope and the saddle horn. He kept that finger in a bottle of alcohol for decades!! Also at age 14, even though it was in June, on his 14th birthday he and his mother went hunting and he got an 8 point and a 6 point buck (total 14 points on his 14th birthday). Personally I don't about that story ... it was June, bucks generally don't have a full set of antlers in June, nubbins in velvet yes, but enough to count points? Humm .....

Starting at age 16, Ross began working in road construction; literally from the ground up. He began by pulling roots, worked up to an equipment operator, then a boss, and finally as a consultant. He traveled all over the state of Texas. Many of those years were spent with Brown and Root Construction.

Ross loved knowledge. He loved to read and was a very well read man. He loved history and family stories. He loved old time westerns, cowboys and days gone by; a simpler time.
