Lawrence J. Shelton, 89, of Independence, MO, passed away April 20, 2008 at the VA Hospital in Kansas City. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. followed by funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, at Noland Road Baptist Church in Independence. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Noland Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 4505 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64055. Lawrence retired from General Motors-Leeds with 32 years of service. He was a member of the UAW 93 Retirees. He is survived by his wife Betty Shelton; son Mike Shelton; stepson Bruce Mann and wife Cathy; granddaughters Melissa Chamberlain and Melinda Vincent; great-grandsons Eli and Dax Vincent; brother Norman Shelton and wife Connie; sister Geneva Mitchell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
