REV. JOSEPH W. ECHOLS JR., 78, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Memphis, assistant pastor at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Spokane, died Thursday at Holy Trinity Hospital in Spokane. M. J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home has charge. He was a World War II and Korean War Army veteran. Rev. Echols, the husband of Vellar C. Echols, also leaves a daughter, Gloria J. Echols of Olympia, Wash.; two sons, Joseph W. Echols III of San Jose, Calif., and James A. Echols of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Mattie B. Rodgers, and a brother, Robert M.
