He attended Boonton High School where he participated in basketball, football, track and the peer mediation club. Following high school, he worked for several years in Flanders, at an Exxon gas station and at Cavanaugh's Exterminators. In April 2006, he enlisted in the Army, where he met his wife. They married later that year, and he was deployed in the fall of 2007. He died at Forward Operating Base Falcon near Baghdad, Iraq, of a non-combat related injury.
