Another Pioneer Gone
John B. Wilson passed peacefully away at his residence at the head of Bennett Valley on Wednesday evening July 20th. He suffered a long time with heart disease and paralysis. Death was expected for many weeks by his many friends and relations.

Uncle Jack was born in Tennessee in 1839. He came to California in 1858 and settled on Russian River. In 1861 he married Sardenia Shinn, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Shinn. In November 1865, Mr. Wilson and Mr. S. M. Shinn moved to their farm, where they have resided ever since.

Mr. Wilson leaves a widow, two sons and six daughters. He has two brothers on Russian river, Alex and William Wilson. One brother spent most of his time with Mr. Wilson until the last. He also had two brothers-in-law, Lee Laughlin of Windsor, and William A. Thompson of Redwood Farm, near Glen Ellen. The kindness and affection of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Thompson and their family shown during his illness will long be remembered by Mr. Wilson's family and friends.

"A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled.
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled."

"God in his wisdom has recalled
The boon his love has given
And though the body moulders here
The soul in safe in heaven."
A Relative.
