William "Bill" Ross Olive

December 15, 1935 - April 15, 2008

William Ross Olive, 72, of Mountain Home, Texas, passed away suddenly on April 15, 2008. Bill was born in Houston on December 15, 1935 and resided there until serving his country in the United States Army from 1955 – 1958. He spent most of his service time overseas in Germany.

After completing his service, Bill received his degree in Accounting from the University of Houston, and obtained his CPA certificate in 1969. Bill began his career as a CPA in Houston, working for several corporations. In 1983, he joined the firm of Urban and Thielemann, CPAs in Giddings, Texas. He became partner of Urban, Thielemann & Olive and enjoyed 22 years of serving friends and clients in lee and surrounding counties. Before retiring, he was a member of the Houston Society of CPA's and the American Institute of CPA's.

Bill married wife Nancy in 1959 and started a family five years later. One of Bill's greatest accomplishments was raising three children, with wife Nancy, and ensuring that each completed a college degree. Bill was a member of the Lexington Lions Club and the Lexington First Baptist Church for over 20 years. Bill also served as President of the Brazosland Homeowner's Association Board in college Station, Texas.

In 2005 after Bill's retirement, he and Nancy moved to Mountain Home, Texas to enjoy retirement and be closer to their grandchildren. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing with his tractor and 4-wheeler. His best hunting buddy was Jake, his grandson. Bill also especially enjoyed root beer floats with his granddaughter, Katie.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Ruth Olive. He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Nancy Olive; children, Keith (and wife Tanya) Olive of Mountain Home, Texas; Brett Olive of San Diego, California; Kimberly Olive of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Jacob and Katelyn Olive of Mountain Home, Texas; dearest friend, Gladys Thomas of Lexington, Texas and sister Patricia (and husband Gordon) Cottrell of Huntsville, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There was a visitation in Kerrville, Texas at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Thursday, April 17, 2008 from 4 – 8 p.m.

There was also be a visitation in Giddings, Texas at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 4 – 7 p.m. Services were held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Reuel Cooper. Interment will follow in the Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Texas.

Pallbearers for Bill Olive's Service are: Finnie Mullins, Doug Thielemann, Doug Harvard, Curtis Urban, Mark Strain, Tim Kleinschmidt, Tom Kleinschmidt, Rodney Exner.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bill's memory are made to the Mountain Home Volunteer Fired Department, P.O. Box 191, Mountain Home, TX 78058 or the Lexington Cemetery Association c/o Louis and Becky Knipstein.
