The results.....Our name is not ALMAND/ALMOND or any variations of this name.
We can only trace (with proofs) our family line back to Thomas Almand, Sr. born 1762 who married Annice Ussery.
Familytree DNA told me that for some reason Irish people changed their names - a lot! There are eight pages of names matching our YDNA. But only four (4) names of Almand variations. At this point we may never find the answer to this.

E. L. Almand, Jr.
Monroe, Ga. - The funeral for E. D. Almand Jr. of Monroe was today at Monroe First united Methodist Church here with burial at Resthaven cemetery.
Mr Almand, a retired funeral director and former mayor of Monroe, died Monday at Walton County Hospital here.
He attended Emory-at-Oxford, Emory University and the University of Georgia. He was past president of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, Georgia State Board of Funeral Services, Georgia Municipal Association, Monroe Kiwanis Club and Monroe Golf and Country Club, and past vice president of the Conferece of Embalming Examining Boards of the U.S. He also belonged to the Monroe Housing Authority, City Council, Masons, Yaarab Temple and Monroe First United Temple and Monroe First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Jordan Almand of Monroe; son, Edward L. Almand III of Monroe, and sister, Mrs Julia Leonard and Mrs. Sue Morgan, both of Athens.
