Survived the Bataan Death March, as well as the sinking of the Oryoku Maru (Japanese ship used to transport POWs from Manila to Subic Bay on Dec 13-15, 1944.), He also survived the sinking of the Enoura Maru at Takao, Formosa, before being put on a third transport, the Brazil Maru, which safely made it to Moji, Japan.

Served in the US Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant with the 34th Pursuit Squadron.* Held as a POW at the Fukuoka POW Camp #1-Kashii (Pine Tree Camp) Kyushu island 33-130. From Weslaco, Texas

Liberated October 12, 1945.

*The 34th Pursuit Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was wiped out in the Battle of the Philippines (1941–42). The survivors fought as infantry during Battle of Bataan and after their surrender, were subjected to the Bataan Death March.
