The Ribbon Road, a little book of poems written by Wanda Ticknor Daetsch of Pierce Ave., has just been published by the Village Printing House of Hamburg. In her first- published work, Mrs. Daetsch offers a nostalgic -and sentimental anthology of her poems' written over the years. They reflect a woman's and a mother's world of simple joys, sorrows, and the writer's eternal zest for life and living. Charmingly illustrated with pen and ink drawings by her granddaughter, Miss Deborah Dae Miller [m. Mark L. Gabler 1967]of Lombardy Lane, the little volume is dedicated to the memory of Miss Orpha S. Ticknor, sister of the author. Miss Miller, now a student at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, is a graduate of Green Mountain College, Poultney, Vt., and of Hamburg Central High School. Mrs. Daetsch, the former Miss Wanda Ticknor, has made her home here since she was a girl in her teens. She and her husband, Chester G. Daetsch of Pierce Ave. have two daughters living here. They are Mrs. William Dougherty of Pierce Ave. Mrs. Richard Paige Miller of Lombardy Lane. A son, Willard T. Daetsch, makes his home in Ithaca where he is, on the German faculty of Ithaca College. Mrs. Daetsch is also the mother of the late Richard Daetsch, a Korean war casualty. Mr. and Mrs. Daetsch have been prominently identified with the exchange student program here over a 25-year period. Their "foster children" are prominent in many professional and business fields in nations throughout the world. And whenever they are in this country they always find time to see "mother and dad." A landscape and still life artist in her own right, Mrs. Daetsch belongs to a number of cultural organizations, including the Colonial Dames of America.
