After graduation, Oveta married her husband, Roy Pickett and they moved to Victoria, TX, where she had two daughters, Glenda and Beverly. After Roy passed away, she met then later married her second husband, William Brann.
Oveta was very devoted to her family, an avid member of First Baptist Church of Victoria, and enjoyed game nights every Friday night, as well as working in the Church nursery every Sunday and Wednesday. She also spent countless hours watching her favorite team of all time, The Dallas Cowboys, and watching The Price is Right.
Oveta dedicated 25+ years to the Victoria Advocate as their Lead Librarian and retired at the age of 82. After retirement, she moved to Conroe, TX to live with her daughter, Beverly and son in law, Joe until she was called home to be with Jesus.
Oveta leaves behind her daughter, Beverly Ward and her husband Joe; her grandchildren, Jeff Ward and his wife Amanda, Jana Sutton, Meredith Appling, Morgan Parsons and her husband Will; her great grandchildren: Isabell Ward, Alexandria Ward, Brenleigh Ward, Johanna Ward, Adilyn Sutton, Caesyn Sutton, and Meaghyn Sutton; her loving caregiver, Tashonda Reed; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends; and we can't forget her pup, Hannah, too!
She is proceeded in death by her first husband, Roy Pickett, and later, her husband, William (Buster) Brann; her parents, Vallie and Ike Davis; her brothers, Bob Davis and Wendall Davis; her sister, Lovette Gray; her daughter, Glenda Appling, and her granddaughter Melody Appling.
Oveta will be forever loved and dearly missed by her family and friends and by those whose life she touched.
