From the January 5, 1921 issue of the Illinoian Star newspaper, Beardstown, Illinois: Helen Marguerite, the youngest daughter and child of Lee and Lena Beard, heard the summons. "Come un to me, " and the little ????? took its flight at 10:15 o'clock p.m. January 1st, 1921, age one year, one month and 21 days. She is survived by the father and mother, five brothers and four sisters, namely, Russell, Raymond, Robert, Roland, John, Mildred, Mae, Lucille and Rena. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. R. Gibbons. A quartette composed of Mrs. W. R. Gibbons, Mrs. D. Giger, John Naylor and Charles Schaefer, very feelingly sang, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and "Jewels". The pall bearers were Joy Barber, Dale Beard, Roy and Virgil Winhold. The beautiful array of flowers was in charge of Mrs. J. M. Swope. Burial was in the Arenzville cemetery.
