Killed in the Battle of the Marne (the French call it the Second Battle of the Marne and the Americans call it the Oise-Aisne Offensive) in World War I. He was killed near the town of Chateau-Theirry which is on the Marne River and buried in the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery in Fere-en-Tardenois, France - plot B, row 15, grave 20. Marker placed in Concord Cemetery as a memorial.
