As an infant, Samuel Bell was brought to McLean County, Illinois, by his parents. Bloomington has been his home ever since.

Survivors include four brothers, Arthur H., of Bloomington; Walter, Belleville, Kansas; Mifflin, the well-known architect, Chicago; and Charles, Council Bluffs; and one sister, Mrs. Sarah E. Garrett, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Bell was fond of hunting and fishing and during his earlier years was noted for his achievements with the gun and rod.
