Obituary (from the Byrum Funeral Home website):

Paul Richard Fehmel was born December 27, 1948 in Dallas, Texas and passed away November 19, 2023 in Arlington, Texas.

Paul was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Kimball High School and attended The University of Texas at Arlington. Paul proudly served his country flying helicopters during his tour in Vietnam as a member of the US Army 101st Airborne. While stationed in North Carolina, he met his wife, Mary Harris. They were married for 41 years and raised three children: Mary Anne, John, and Linda. After Mary passed away, Paul found love again and married his second and current wife Cathy Christopher-Fehmel.

As a man of faith, he was dedicated to catholic charity organizations including the Knights of Columbus, rising to a 4th Degree Senior Knight. During his work with the Knights of Columbus, Paul served on several American Wheelchair missions distributing wheelchairs to the needy in Israel, Vietnam, and Mexico. He also participated in Hike for Life fundraising events.

Paul was a fan of the Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns. He loved to attend baseball games in Arlington and watch college football on weekends. Unfortunately, he was too sick to know that the Ranger won the World Series.
All who knew him, will miss his sense of humor, his kindness and loyalty. May he rest in peace with his beloved Mary, Linda and Mary Anne.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Fehmel; his daughters, Mary Anne Fehmel and Linda Gail Fehmel; his mother Virginia Fehmel; and his father, Frank Fehmel Sr.

Paul is survived by his wife, Cathy Christopher; his son, John Paul; his daughter-in-law, Yajaira Ivett; his bonus daughter, Mary Kay Sargent; his grandchildren, Adam Brown and Charlotte Fehmel; his brother, Frank Fehmel; and his sister Pepper Ann Phillips.

Family will receive friends on Monday, Nov 27, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Byrum Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary beginning at 6:00pm.

A celebration of Paul's life will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Dallas.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Paul's name to the American Wheelchair Mission.
