In her youth she moved with her parents to Illinois and later to Wisconsin.
On September 3, 1870 she was united in marriage to Ealom A. George at Darlington, Wisconsin.
To this union were born sever children, three sons and four daughters all but one of whom survive. The husband and one daughter, Mrs. J.R. Whitney, passed on 12 years ago.
In 1872, with her husband and baby she came to Republic county (sic), Kansas, making the trip in a covered wagon, and located in Liberty township.
She endured all the hardships of the pioneer mother and was neighbor and nurse in those early years. Later she cared for her grandchildren who were left motherless.
Upon retiring from the farm she and her husband made their home in Byron for several years.
Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her daughters. Her patience has been an example to all.
In the early years of the church in the state she joined the Methodist church (sic) near Byron and attended church in Chester until falling health kept her at home.
She leaves to mourn her departure six children, Philo J. George of Upton, Wyoming, John M. George of Chester, Prof. E.J. George of Greeley, Kansas, Mrs. R.H. Sherwood of Hebron, Mrs. W.P. Duey of Chester; two brothers, Alonzo Ford of Norton, Kansas, and Philo Ford of Washington state; several grand children and great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
