Winfield Scott Bantom was a huckster for many years.

On the US 1900 Census, he said he was a laborer and lived on West Side Simpson Street.

On the 27 Apr 1910 US Census, he was a widower and a boarder in Collingdale, Delaware County, living at 421 Lafayette Avenue in the home of Eliza Bittle, who was also a widow. He was working as foreman in a nursery.

On the 28 Jan US 1920 Census, he was still living in the home of Eliza Bittle, at 421 Lawrence Road, Haverford, Delaware County, with two brothers, Mordecai and Lewis Lawrence. Eliza was their housekeeper. Winfield was unemployed.
