Sir Henry died 13 January 1900 in St. Moritz, Switzerland, due to an attack of influenza while on holiday. He is buried in Lissadell churchyard with his wife.
His son Josslyn Augustus Richard Gore-Both succeeded to the title and family estate following his death.
