Adna was the daughter of Christian Albert and Margaret Katherine (Brown) Eitemiller. She grew up on a farm, and her father was a farmer, but also a Lieutenant with the Baltimore County Police Department, working at Woodlawn.
Her first job was as a secretary at Baltimore Federal Savings and Loan in the Title Department at 410 E. Fayette Street in downtown Baltimore ("Colonial Corner"). She met Bob (Robert Edward Sparks) and they were married in 1955, not long after he was discharged from the Army, where he was deployed at Fort Meade Maryland Army Chemical Center during the Korean War. She and Bob travelled the world, from Japan and Germany to London and Italy -- always on the lookout for another museum or spectacular vista.
Adna held a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Arts, and Doctorate in Philosophy. While raising their three boys, she built a career as an Accountant.
Her son, David, had this to say in his eulogy to his Mom:
"What other topics could we speak of with Adna? Money, Politics, Religion? She was an excellent conversationalist with the intellect to back it up. And if you took the time to listen, you were always wiser afterwards."
