MISS MARTHA JANE BAXTER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh D. Baxter of 5253 Shady Grove Road, was a pre-medical student at Memphis State University and a part-time sales clerk at Goldsmith's. She was born in Georgia and had lived in Memphis for seventeen years. She was a member of Mullins Methodist Church and was graduated from White Station High School in 1963.
Miss Baxter took part in the Miss Memphis contest in 1964 and had been invited to enter again in 1965. She won honors for excellence in both 1962 and 1963 at the annual congress of the Southern Speech Association.
Besides her parents, Miss Baxter leaves two brothers, Jack E. Baxter of 2839 Kimball and Hugh D. Baxter of the Shady Grove address. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at Memphis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
