Cape Elizabeth – Hartwell A. Neal, 75, of 426 Mitchell Road, died Jan. 4, 1988, at a Portland hospital. He was born, March 1, 1913, in Lincoln, the son of Augustus and Julia (Tripp) Neal and attended Lincoln schools. He moved to Portland area in 1942 and worked in the South Portland ship yards during World War II. He worked for Ballard Oil Co. in Portland on commercial refrigeration and air condition for 35 years and retiring in 1981.
He is survived by two sons, Master Sgt. Paul A. Neal of Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss. And Ralph D. Neal of South Portland; two sisters, Florence King and Doris Clifford, both of Lincoln; one brother, Lenwood Neal of Lincoln; two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Hobbs Funeral Home, South Portland. Friends and relatives are invited to call 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland.
