On February 27, 1907 Sena Svendgaard married Anton, the “Danish hired hand” of the neighborhood. They spent their first year on a farm near the Jensen Homestead (near Orum) where their first child Pearl was born, March 3, 1908. Pearl died December 16, 1908. Shortly thereafter they moved to the original Soren Jensen Homestead (Nels M. Jensen Farm). Eulala and Edna were born there.
In 1912 they purchased 120 acres from the Voorhees Family in March School District. A new house was built in 1916. In 1924 they purchased an adjoining 80 acres from the Clarence French Estate. They lived here until 1943 when they retired to and Arlington residence.
Seven children were reared on the farm and all attended March School for their ten year education. The parents had also attended March School (March School celebrated its Centennial in 1970.
Anton was a stockman and grain farmer. He enjoyed dancing and playing the harmonica. He was staunch Republican. Sena loved sewing for her family and enjoyed her garden and chickens.
During February 1920 Anton suffered from sciatic rheumatism. He spent one month at Excelsior Spring, Missouri taking treatments. Soren Svendgaard, wife and four children moved into the Andersen household. Soren did the farm work.
Anton died in 1950; Sena in 1965. Seven children carry on the Andersen heritage.

Anton was a great advocate of education for his children, although he didn’t have a formal education himself. All his children were graduated from Arlington High School. Six daughters attended Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska. All were school teachers having taught a total of eighty years.
